In a commendable act of community service, Women of Restoration, led by Minister Chineme Ijeabuonwu, made a significant donation to the female Acute ward of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital on October 15, 2024. This initiative aligns with their mission to empower and support women in need, especially in critical health sectors.
The donation was inspired by the Worlem Adzimah Foundation’s public call for support for mental health institutions in Ghana. The foundation, known for our advocacy in mental health awareness, highlighted the urgent need for resources and upgrades in the female acute ward of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
The acute ward has been facing severe challenges. Although the Ministry of Health has provided some relief, significant needs remain unmet, stressing the importance of continued community and organizational support.
Minister Ijeabuonwu and her team from Women of Restoration visited the hospital, where they presented essential supplies. The gesture was warmly received by the hospital staff and patients, who expressed their gratitude for the much-needed support. This donation is expected to alleviate some of the immediate burdens faced by the hospital and contribute to better care for the patients.

The Women of Restoration’s contribution underscores the power of community involvement in addressing mental health issues and supporting healthcare institutions. The organization’s efforts, combined with those of other philanthropists and the government’s interventions, are crucial in ensuring that the Accra Psychiatric Hospital can continue to provide vital services to those in need.
